Code of Conduct

A professional code of Ethics offers a set of guidelines to teams or organizations which can be used to make appropriate and just decisions at work place. Setting a professional code of Ethics provide a road map to approach and deal with problems in a morally and socially acceptable manner thereby imbibing honesty and integrity in the institutional ethos and work culture leading to a healthier work environment.

Institutional Ethics: Every organization must maintain a moral profile to gain credibility in the eyes of the stakeholders and build a good institutional image. Ethical conduct is to be practiced in all facets of the institutional operations and activities, policy decision making, implementation, and follow up. It is not only necessary to frame ethical standards but also to ensure that the standards and benchmarks set are followed in letter and spirit. In an educational institution, Ethical behavior and conduct are to be followed by all the participants in the teaching - learning - evaluation process. Ethical dimensions of an Educational Institution can not be ignored and it has a significant impact on society at large. The Ethics are the guidelines which can be referred to by the stakeholders of an educational institution - students, teachers, administration, parents and society in large.

For Administration:

For Administrator, engaged in the educational institution, requires to show impartiality, integrity and ethical behavior in the institution and in his/her conduct with all stakeholders.

For Teaching Staff:

1. Every faculty member should work within the institutional policies and practices so as to satisfy the vision and mission of the College.

2. All the members of the teaching staff must be punctual for classes and should adhere to the timings scheduled for other activities and events.

3. All members of staff, both teaching and non-teaching must sign regularly in the attendance register which is to be maintained by the head of the institution.

4. The duties assigned to teachers consist of lectures/practicals/tutorials in the allocated workload of the individual teacher. In addition, they have to undertake responsibilities of conducting evaluation and invigilation, administrative work, providing counsel to students and participating in extra-curricular activities and institutional support activities as required.

5. The working hours of the teaching staff shall be according to the prescribed time table and any other additional duty assigned to them.

6. Mentor-Ward System must be followed by every teacher and the teachers should take proper care of their group of students by guiding, motivating, counseling and monitoring them.

7. No faculty members shall act in any manner that violates the decorum or morality within the campus.

8. Refrain from undertaking any other employment and commitment including private tuitions and coaching classes which are likely to interfere with their professional responsibilities.

9. Take leave as per rules with prior intimation, keeping in view their particular responsibility for completion of academic schedule.

10. Seek to make professional growth continuous through study and research.

For Non-teaching Staff:

1. Report on time for work. Be punctual and discharge duties allotted promptly.

2. Behave decently in keeping with the discipline and decorum of the institution.

3. Consumption of alcohol, intoxicants1, tobacco, smoking is strictly prohibited while on duty.

4. Know the service conditions, duties and responsibilities, rules and regulations regarding leave, salary and other related matters.

5. Follow the organizational hierarchy and protocol.

For Students:

1. Students are required to maintain regular attendance to be eligible for appearing in the University Examination.

2. If a student is absent for more than two weeks without prior permission/intimation, his/her name is likely to be struck of the register.

3. College property, furniture, library books, etc. must be treated with due care.

4. Rules for the conduct of examinations placed on the Notice Board must be strictly observed.

5. Students are required to check the Notice Board for important announcements.

6. Students are expected to be formally and decently dressed while in the College.

7. Smoking, chewing tobacco products, playing cards, spitting and loitering are strictly prohibited inside the College.

8. Use of Mobile phone is restricted inside the classroom.

9. Anti-ragging Rules:

• We are guided by the Supreme Court and university Grants Commission advocated guidelines for curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions (Regulation 2013). Students are required to adhere to the anti-ragging rules that are in force in the campus.

• Indulging in or abetment of ragging is a punishable offence and may lead to expulsion from the College.

10. Students are expected to treat the members of the staff and their fellow students with courtesy both in and out of the College. There must be no disorderly or offensive conduct at any time.
